Head of the Department, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor
The department was established in 2019 on the basis of two departments: Pedagogy, Foreign Philology and Translation and Ukrainian Studies and Language Training of Foreign Citizens.
The department employs: 1 Doctor of Science, Professor, 4 Candidates of Science, Associate Professors; 1 Candidate of Science; 1 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pedagogy, 1 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Philology, 8 senior lecturers, 1 lecturer, 1 postgraduate student. Three postgraduate students were prepared for scientific defense. 2 PhD theses were defended. 3 associate professors were awarded.
Our Mission
The department is dedicated to providing students with high-quality language training that fosters effective cross-cultural communication. Our goal is to equip students with the linguistic and intercultural competencies necessary to succeed in a global professional environment, enhancing their competitiveness in their future careers.

Foreign Language for Foreigners
These courses are designed to meet the needs of students from diverse academic backgrounds and prepare them for effective communication in international and professional contexts. The department has developed a comprehensive suite of educational materials for all disciplines, including manuals, textbooks, work programs, and methodological guidelines.
We also offer language training as part of several academic programs, including a joint French-Ukrainian Master’s Program in Business Informatics in collaboration with Lyon 2 University (France).
In support of the educational process, faculty members have designed and implemented 58 Professionally Oriented Language Study (PLS) courses, each with 100% organizational and methodological support. These courses include: syllabus, work programs, technological charts, texts and/or lecture presentations, guidelines for practical and independent work, resources, reference material, projects and practices, audio/video content, etc.
Research Projects and Contractual Collaboration
The department actively conducts research on contractual topics in collaboration with partner institutions, organizations, and businesses. These projects address current challenges in language education, intercultural communication, and professional language training. Through contractual research, the department contributes practical solutions and innovations that support both academic advancement and real-world application:

The department is fully staffed with highly qualified researchers and educators who meet all licensing and accreditation standards. Our academic staff also fully comply with the Regulations on Advanced Training, ensuring continuous professional development. Every faculty member is actively involved in a professional association or community of practice, fostering collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence.
In addition to teaching and research, the department is committed to educational outreach and student support. We engage regularly in: educational activities with university students, partnerships with secondary schools in Kharkiv, career guidance and outreach programs, including events aimed at helping schoolchildren explore language learning and future academic opportunities. Through these initiatives, the department plays an active role in shaping both the university community and the broader educational landscape.
